I asked for some source photos to work from

This was the one I chose, but using the pallet from the other one as this photo looked a bit washed out.

As always, I start with a simple drawing of the subject so that I can get to know its shapes and form,

I started with the background. if the camera had been pointed the other way, there would have been trees as a backdrop, so I decided to give that impression.

As a right handed person, I try to start from the left side of the image to avoid smudging.

I wanted to finish the fir texture before adding the detail

Just finishing off the detail like whiskers and eyes.

All finished, ready to give to the happy owner – My sister
